The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has officially announced a major expansion of the CM Punjab Laptop Program for the 2026 cycle. On July 16, 2026, the provincial cabinet approved the distribution of 100,000 laptops to regular students enrolled in public universities, colleges, and medical colleges across Punjab. The program is currently moving from the previous phase of physical verification and laptop distribution toward a new procurement and registration process for the 2026 cycle.
The CM Punjab Laptop Program is a merit-based technology initiative administered by the Higher Education Department (HED), Punjab. The program provides free, high-performance laptops to eligible undergraduate and medical students studying at public-sector institutions across Punjab.
To qualify, applicants must have a Punjab domicile, be enrolled as a regular student, and meet the required academic criteria—typically a minimum 3.00 CGPA for university students or 70% marks for college students. Applicants must also not have previously received a laptop through any government laptop scheme.

|---|---|---|
| Public Universities | Eligible | Data uploaded directly by university registrar. |
| Public Colleges | Eligible | Verified by Directorate of Education Punjab. |

| Private Universities | Ineligible | Not included under current HED scheme rules. |
| Virtual / Distance Learning | Ineligible | Not included under HED rules. |
Meeting the minimum eligibility CGPA of 3.00 does not guarantee selection, as laptops are limited. Selection merit is calculated based on:
Merit Calculation Logic:
Laptop allocations are divided into specific university, college, and department quotas. Within each department/discipline, candidates are ranked from highest CGPA to lowest CGPA (or marks percentage). Laptops are awarded to top-ranking candidates until the department’s quota is exhausted.
Because of this, the “closing merit” CGPA changes dynamically for every department and institution depending on student performances.
Students do not submit application forms manually. The program uses an institutional upload system:
Selected candidates must present original documents at the distribution desks. Keep these files ready:
When you log in to your HED dashboard, your account will show one of these status markers:
